Baptista Somaschus was the founder of a printing family of Venice.
"Pavian publisher and printer active in Venice. He worked both alone and with his brothers, presumably Giulio and Giacomo Antonio. As editor, he used the printing houses of Egidio Regazzola, Giorgio Angelieri, Giovanni Griffio "the elder", Rampazetto and Zoppini. Died in 1592, when the mark of the heirs appears." His son Jacobus Antonius Somaschus was active in 1572-1574, 1579, 1582, and 1593-1612.
