Symbol Description
In general, wings symbolize spirituality, imagination, and thought. The Greeks portrayed many personifications and deities with wings, such as love and victory. According to Plato, wings are a symbol of intelligence, which is why some fabulous animals are winged. Pegasus, for instance, has this attribute. Wings are also found on heroeshelmets, and the caduceus. In Christian symbolism it is said that wings are the light of justice, which illuminates righteous minds. Wings also signify mobility, so this meaning combines with enlightenment to signify potential spiritual evolution. In alchemy, wings are always associated with the higher, active, principle.
